Some backstory

Well, I didn't finish the work I wanted to last night, I got caught up more with the organizational stuff around the studio than with actually painting... which is a good thing. But sometimes it takes all night...

Anyway, this is good, I needed to first show something of where I've come from. And since I matured with my experience of paint_live, I should start there. Somewhere. So, I take you back to California, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Fairfax. I was renting a room for two weeks and apparently exploring the nature of wet climates. Blah. It rained 11 out of 14 days. But I'm not complaining, it was beautful. So one day I decided to see about painting at a local venue to pass the time (Fairfax was a quiet town) and I found a good place that agreed and went about preparing myself, not knowing what I might do. At this time my focus was on painting portraits in live spaces, mostly musicians, but in this case I was inspired to paint Clint Eastwood. San Francisco had elements of him and I knew heading back (to San Diego) that I would be stopping in to the Hogs Breath Inn, a restuarant he owned in Carmel. So I thought it was a good choice. So this piece goes back about four years. Painting for moist people. I never did run into Clint...
